Welcome to The Autumn Chronicles
Dear Reader, I wrote a Substack! Here's what you can expect.
Hello and welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.
The Autumn Chronicles is a collection of thoughts from a friend. It is a place to shine a light on all the wonder around us as we navigate the seasons, to indulge my curiosity about the world and to look for small micro-moments of joy amidst the rush and hurry of life.
About Me
I’m Victoria, I live in London, England with my husband and two cats and by day, I have a full-time corporate job. I love to walk, to meander around cities with no real purpose, taking pictures of things I discover along the way. I love to bake, especially as a way to tell my friends and family I’m thinking about them. I love to read; in fact, there are few things in life I love more than a rainy Sunday afternoon, curled up on the sofa with a blanket on my knees, a cat on my lap and my nose in a book. I started writing because I was looking for a creative outlet, a way I could structure and share my thoughts on life and all its experiences in the hope of connecting with like-minded people and building a community.
Chronicling Autumn
I have always been happiest in the autumn. I love to crunch through leaves, eat apple crumble for breakfast and relish any excuse to wrap up warm and spend time outside. But autumn is so much more than a season; it is a metaphor for the impermanence of life, for beauty that is fleeting. Autumn is a time of harvest but also a time to embrace change, to leave behind things which no longer serve us to make way for new growth and the roots of new possibilities. Autumn is for collecting and storing, for preserving, for reflecting, remembering, re-filling and replenishing.
“I have done nothing all summer but wait for myself to be myself again” - Georgia O’Keeffe
I hope these writings allow you to sit quietly with a cup of something warm and comforting and take a moment for yourself. My very first post, A Call to Autumn, explores some of these themes further and is a soft place to land to begin your journey. You might also like to read my most popular post, Coffee With My Younger Self. I hope you find much that resonates with you here and I am looking forward to sharing the seasons with you.
It's lovely to read more about you Victoria (I'm so sorry, I'm only just catching up!). We're similar - I love autumn too, and definitely agree that there's nothing better than a rainy Sunday!
*happy flails* It's so wonderful to read more about you and see your lovely face! 🤗 We have a lot in common and I'm so looking forward to read your musings when Autumn has knocked on our doors and we can settle into our cosy outfits and surround ourselves with all the magic this season has to offer us, the actual Autumn magic, but also all it stands for. 🧡🍂🍁💃
