September and the Autumn 🍂 is my most favourite time of year. The Japanese maple in the front of the block of flats next to me is always absolutely glorious. I love your photos of, what I’m assuming is a canal somewhere, and often wondered what it would be like living right next to water. I think I’d be totally fascinated 🤔.

Yes, this is a canal in Ghent, Belgium. I agree that living by the water would be fascinating - always so much change that you would never be bored! I hope autumn is treating you well. 😁

Beautiful Victoria! I have loved September though it has felt very full! I have loved the warmer golden days, particularly at the dahlia flower patch and also the cooler, blustery autumn days that call for hunkering down and apple crumble. Loved your glimmers, the travel, cats and sunsets all incredibly special ✨✨✨

Thank you Lyndsay! The dahlia flower patch always looks amazing in your photos. I thought of you yesterday. I walked past an allotment near me and someone had a full patch of all different types of dahlias. It was glorious.

Beautiful - just written a poem about glimmers by coincidence - perhaps this is a reflective time of year ❤️

Oh wonderful! Have you published your poem here? Yes, I think this time of year lends itself well to looking for magic wherever we find it.

Ohh the cats! As a fellow cat mama I fully resonate with how necessary it is to travel yet heartbreaking to leave your furry family member at home. Even if it is only for a couple of days. 😽😽

Yes! I always feel so guilty but even cat parents need a break sometimes. What is your cat’s name?

I like the word joyous and I am happy for you that this is the word describing your September. I used to be a teacher for decades and September was always busy. This year, working mostly from home office, September has been the calmest and quietest ever in my life. Still processing it.

At first glance, do you prefer busy Septembers or more tranquil ones? I always love the “new” feeling in September and find it funny how, even though a lot of us haven’t been on a school schedule for many years (teachers being the exception), it’s so common to still get that “back to school” feeling as soon as September rolls around.

The peace and quiet is a privilege and a gift, and I appreciate it deeply. What I miss is the belonging and the collective excitement. I do not wish to return though. The tranquility is precious.

This was a lovely read. I've enjoyed September but I feel like I've left the house dressed for Autumn, and returned dressed for summer with my jumper in my hand 😂 My highlight of this month has been seeing the deer up close and personal in our garden, I write about it in today's post. It was a magical moment. I'm definitely a lover of sunsets too ☀️ Have a wonderful Sunday 😊
