It snowed last weekend, and it's been so cold that the snow has not melted a bit. Waking up every morning to a beautiful snowscape has been magical. One of the reasons I love January is its possibility of snow every other day and its bitterly cold temperatures. ❄️❤️
Snow is magical - have you been out in it or just admired it from the comfort of the cottage? I have images of the two of you having snowball fights with the bears. :D
So glad you've had a glimmer-filled month, David! Hope the start of the year has been kind to you and Clementine and that the glimmers continue as the seasons shift.
Oooh tulips?! In January?! That’s so exciting. I love tulips - my father in law was Dutch so they’re a big thing in my house (although wooden ones because apparently they are poisonous for cats).
The other day, my husband spontaneously made me banana pancakes and then it turned into a pray for everyone to have banana pancakes - or their equivalent to get through these times that I was able to share with others.
Happy birthday Victoria. I'm pleased that you enjoyed your celebrations 😊 my sister's birthday is also in January and I found it difficult to plan something for her due to the weather. I love the photo of the colourful flowers, they must really cheer you up during this season. I hope that you are feeling a little better now too 🥰
Happy Birthday! BD doesn’t need to be grand, some small things can make it special too. But if you really want something bigger and brighter, express it. And if celebrating in January seems “too much” after Christmas, celebrate in spring. Your birthday, your choice. I am a fan of small getaways and I love gerberas. (My mom had a thought to name me Gerbera, thankfully she didn’t 😀)
You are right; birthdays don't need to be grand and it's the small, ordinary things that can be really special. I worked with a woman once who also had an early January birthday so, like the Queen (or King now I guess), she also had a summer birthday so she could celebrate in the sunshine. Maybe I should try this next year! Gerberas are wonderful, aren't they? I'm not sure I'd like to be called Gerbera either but they can definitely be a glimmer. :D
Happy belated birthday and all the best, Victoria! 💐 💖
I'm glad for you that you've found a way to enjoy your birthday. Birthdays can be tricky for all numbers of reasons. I also have a bit of a complicated relationship with mine ... (luckily, not with ageing).
Beautiful gerberas, stunning colours, in an otherwise quite dreary month.
Thank you Claudia! I hope 2025 will be the year that your birthday is really special and significant for you. January has been so bleak and grey here in London that I have been looking for little pops of colour wherever I can find them.
Happy (very belated!) Birthday! Ohhh 40! Wishing you a magical decade of settling into who you are meant to be! 💕
Happy belated birthday 🎉 the Cotswolds was an inspired choice ... I loved reading about your glimmers 💕
Thank you for reading Emily. Hope January had some glimmers for you too! ☺️
What beautiful glimmers for January. Happy birthday, I’m pleased you had a lovely time away 😊
Thank you Debbie! ☺️

Haha, today was my first foray outside since I got sick. It's still lovely and has barely melted. ❤️❤️ can't wait to venture out again tomorrow!
So many lovely glimmers this month, but the beautiful and lengthy hoar frost is certainly one of them 🌿✨

Beautiful glimmers! Happy birthday, Victoria. 🎉
Thank you Caitlin! Thank you for reading. :)
Happy Birthday! Your birthday retreat with your husband sounded absolutely lovely! Here in Finland you won't find gerberas yet but it's tulip season!

Yes, you can find tulips in most grocery stores here but oh dear, did not know they were poisonous for cats!
Happy birthday! The Gerberas are beautiful, definitely add a splash of color to the grey winter.
Thank you, Vanna and thank you for reading! ☺️
Happy Birthday Victoria!

Thank you! Banana pancakes sound delicious. 😁
You're welcome to have some!

Thank you! Yes, January is a terrible time for birthday planning - too many variables! I hope your sister had a wonderful birthday nonetheless. x
