Victoria, I have a new found love for pink thanks to you! I have always been more drawn to blues and greens, personally; Mint and Teal (beautiful mixes of the two are my favourite). However, it always made me sad as a child that picking blue as my favourite colour as a young girl meant I was boyish! (I mean I absolutely was the epitome of a Tom-boy and picked football with the boys every lunchtime over daisy-chains and hair styling with the girls). I am very glad that times are changing and now we all get to love the colours that we love! Maybe you could persuade your husband that one pink room wouldn't be so bad? ;) - Gail x
Oooh I love shades of teal too - most of my house is teal and grey. I’m working on him for the spare room so fingers crossed! We should all definitely be able to embrace the colours we love and I hope you’re still kicking that football with unabashed glee! x
I love this Victoria. I like pink too! You have reminded me of a pink leather jacket that I had as a child, and I too would put it on and pretend to be one of the Pink Ladies 😂 I always wanted a pink wig so that I could be like Frenchie when she has her hair disaster in the first film. Luckily, no one ever supplied me with said pink wig and I'm extremely grateful for that 😂 I also had a bright pink and purple room as a child, I'm sure the boarder was Bubblegum Girls (or something like that)...I need to Google this! X
Ah I loved this exploration of pink and what it means to you Victoria, it was so wonderful to hear all of the stories from within your life that are linked to this colour and I loved seeing the images and your descriptions of them. Colour is so important and so personal. I was particularly touched by the picture of you and your mum in Mallorca, and of your beautiful wedding blooms (paperweights is such a great idea!), I remember you saying before that you had rosemary in your bouquet for remembrance. I am so sorry for your loss, your mum sounds so wonderful.
I love pink, I actually just painted a cabinet I found at the side of the road in a lovely subtle pink for my children’s room! I am particularly pulled to dusky shades and even a warmer peachy tone these days! xx
Thank you, Lyndsay. My mum was wonderful and I am very lucky to be her daughter. I am so impressed by your upcycling and I agree, I think dusky tones look fabulous, particularly for decorating. I’m still working on my husband but I reckon I can get him to agree to let me paint the spare room pink. It’s where I work and where I write (and where he spends very little time 😂) so I will use your pink cabinet as inspiration! xx
Ha so glad to hear that the cabinet can be used in your case for pink! I actually have a whole ‘Highlight’ on my instagram about my favourite non-pink pink paints, and probably have more to add, the cabinet was painted in Mylands Soho House! Good luck on your quest for a pink writing room, it’s a must! xx
Hello again! I love colors so much and this was such a fun trip down memory lane, getting glimpses how the color pink weaved a thread in your life! 💕
When it comes to my art, I use a lot of colors, but when it comes to my clothing style, I'm partial to wearing black paired with deep neutrals and the inbetween shades with a muted undertone, like mauve and greyblues. 😊 For my hair, my most favorite color was a dark purple, but it washed out after 2-3 washes, only leaving a tint that shifted back and forth between a red and violet hue. But it made me feel magical 🥰 For flowers, peonies are one of my faves and the blush pink ones are just perfection! I'm looking forward to them every year 🌸
For some reason I thought you lived in Australia, but you're in the UK now? If so, we're sooo close! I live in the Netherlands myself. 🤗
Hello! I wish I lived in Australia (except for the spiders) but I am in the UK. The Netherlands is so close - we’re practically neighbours! 😊 I’m a big fan of doing things that make you feel magical so your hair colour sounds wonderful. I hope you do it again when the time is right! 💕
Hii! I forgot about Australia and spiders…that’s definitely a reason for me to reconsider travelling there 😅 We are so close indeed! 🤗
I do have a photo of my hair when it was properly purple, I’ll look it up later. It definitely helped to step more in my magic when I needed it. I have to refresh my hair color soon, so I might add a violet conditioner just to bring the purple hue back again! 🥰💜
Ok first, absolute shoutout to your mum for making a Pink Lady jacket and isn’t Grease 2 the best?! Love that film an unreasonable amount 😂
Second, I love the way you captured the colour in each season and how there are so many different shades of it. I think that’s such a cool idea for a project!
I was always anti-pink as a kid as I hated it being the default for girl things but as I’ve got older I’ve found more shades of it I like. Particularly hot pink!
Hahaha yes, she was a complete legend for doing that! Grease 2 is just epic - that perfect combination of 80s cheesiness and idealism. Thank you so much for reading and I’m really glad you enjoyed it. I’m with you on hot pink - makes me think of tropical Caribbean flowers. 🌺

Maybe we should start our own Substack Pink Ladies…just sayin’ 😂 x
Only if we can have jackets 😂
I have to say you gave the colour pink a whole new meaning!
Thank you Carina. What’s life without a little colour? 💕
Quite right! 🎀
