Stillness is a great word. It conjures up such a sense of just allowing yourself to be and experiencing what life has to offer without getting caught up in the chase. I wish you a wonderful year of stillness, Alicia!

I love your writing and the way you have with words. Contentment is such an underused word these days, especially at the time of new years resolutions when we are encouraged to become the best, the healthiest, the happiest versions of ourselves. It's a nice comfortable word to settle down with. At this time of the year when nature rests we should be allowed to allow ourselves to take it easy and be content.

That’s so kind of you to say, Katherine. Thank you for reading! I completely agree with you about contentment; sometimes it’s necessary to put your feet up and be content with what you have right then.

A lovely read Victoria and I'm sorry to hear that you've been poorly over Christmas. I LOVE your word of the year - contentment! After 2024 was a slow and steady year for me while I adjusted to life with health issues, I now feel ready to make progress again. The time out was important and very beneficial but I'm excited for the year ahead and to continue working on myself, and a few projects that are coming up. As you'll see in my next post, I have created myself a Guide rather than goals or resolutions - just a few things I'd like to achieve after my couple of years of listening to my body 😊 Thank you for sharing x

I think I am where you were last year - adjusting to life with some health stuff and having things work in not quite the way I am used to - and figuring out how to move forward. I will look forward to reading your guide. I have no doubt it will be inspiring! X

Sorry to hear that you are having health issues. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need a chat. My 'time off life' really helped and I wish I'd given in and taken that route sooner. X

Ahhh contentment. I just love that word. And it feels like such a perfect word for January. For anytime really. A reminder for me to be in the moment and to find grace and peace in every situation. Often a challenge, but those pockets of contentment are also pockets of hope I believe. Thank you Victoria for inspiring a cozy little reflection for me. ❤️

Contentment is so important, more important than happiness or joy, which feel much more difficult to maintain for long periods of time. I've found pockets of joy in the past year, and they've been great. But what I've found more often than not on a daily basis is a state of contentment, and it's been wonderful. It feels calm and steadying while also bringing a sense of quiet joy.I hope you find the same! xoxo

A lovely post to begin the year Victoria and I really enjoyed your silhouette image at the start.

My word of the year is connection. I have been thinking about ways I can promote nature connection within my photography and have lots of plans for the year along those lines.

Thanks too for the book mention - Nature’s Calendar: The British Year in 72 Seasons sounds like something I should definitely read. 🙂

After a year of sadness my words this year are 'glimmers of hope'. Just because the year has changed the sadness hasn't but I'm sure, borne from past experience, there will be glimmers of hope. I need to watch for them.
